Volunteers will support students becoming college- or career-ready in a workshop via Zoom coordinated by United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg and Richmond Technical Center (RTC), a program of Richmond Public Schools (RPS). Following a 30-minute virtual training directly beforehand, volunteers can expect to work with one or two students from RTC, or another RPS alternative high school program, to support the development of their career-readiness skills. By joining, volunteers will support local high schoolers with building/improving a résumé, practicing and bettering interview skills, utilizing job-finding platforms, and developing other related soft skills. Volunteers who want to participate only need first-hand experience with job-seeking, technology to access a Zoom meeting, and an eagerness to support young people in our region on their path to success!
