RVA Neighborhoods: How Have They Changed?

Whether you are a Richmonder by birth or a recent transplant, you know that Richmond is home to distinct neighborhoods with their own unique character. Have you ever wondered about the history of Richmond’s iconic neighborhoods and how they’ve changed over time?

Join HYPE member and Fed Community Development Senior Research Analyst, Emily Wavering Corcoran for a deeper look at the changes that have taken place in three Richmond neighborhoods: Blackwell, Church Hill and Jackson Ward. You’ll learn about each neighborhood’s origins and how private development, public policy and community reinvestment have influenced the shape of today’s neighborhoods. Understanding the evolution of Richmond’s neighborhoods can help inform our city’s future, and ultimately create a stronger community for everyone.
